Salt Lake City pest control

We are Utah's top experts in wildlife and raccoon control. We are not a typical Salt Lake City raccoon control or pest control company. We don't treat wild animals like insects, because they are not! You can't just use poison to get rid of them. You also can't just set a few traps on the ground and call it good. Each situation is unique. And remember, if you have raccoons living in your house, it is almost certainly a female with a litter of young inside. These juveniles must be removed by hand, or they will starve to death and die. And after they are gone, the entry holes into the house must be sealed with professional repairs. Unlike most Salt Lake City pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas with professional grade steel
  • If in attic, we remove the baby raccoons by hand
  • Technical and human raccoon trapping appropriate to situation
  • When necessary, we clean raccoon droppings and replace insulation

Salt Lake City Raccoon Control Tip: What can you do to get a raccoon out of the wall of your home?
It may seem that the space between the walls in your house is very small, but you will find that that is large enough for a raccoon to make its way around your home. In fact, it is even large enough for it to be able to build itself a nest for itself and a potential family.

All of that sounds like a disaster, as these animals can do an incredible amount of damage to your home. Not only will they leave their waste and will scratch and claw, tearing apart your wall, but they also are the carriers of a number of parasites and diseases. This puts your family at risk even if the animal never gets into the main part of your house. These pathogens can find their way into your ventilation system, and soon you can find yourself breathing in viruses and parasites that put your family at severe risk.

You want these animals gotten rid of it right away, but you also want to employ a smart technique to get it out. The longer you wait, the bigger the problem becomes. These animals will become entrenched in your home, making it almost impossible to get rid of them.

No need to fear. Getting rid of the raccoon is actually a lot easier than you may think. Where you want to begin is by doing a thorough search around the outside of your house. Look for loose boards, cracks, or holes in boards that the animal is using to gain access into your home. You are going to find something, that is for sure.

If you have found an area, that is great. However, don't stop looking. Just because you found one doesn't mean there aren't more than one. Keep looking until you have found all locations that the animal may be using to gain access into your house.

Once you have done this, seal all the entryways but one. This should be done by nailing loose boards securely and using caulk to seal any gaps. You should also add steel wool to the caulk, making it impossible for the animal to dig or bite their way through the sealant.

Once you have done this, your next step is to apply an exclusion funnel to the remaining entryway the raccoon is using. These animals are nocturnal critters, meaning that they come out at nighttime. What this funnel does is it allows the raccoon to get out of your home, but not get back in. As it is getting closer to daylight, the animal will be forced to look for refuge somewhere else, ensuring that you have gotten rid of the raccoon for good.

The next morning, once you are sure that the raccoon is gone, simply remove the exclusion funnel and seal this area of your home as you did with the other areas the animal was using to gain access into your house. In a short as one night you can easily have removed this animal from your home, restoring your peace of mind. Now, all you have to do is hire a professional to clean inside the wall. Yuck!
